We find our Boat!

In the slings during the survey

At the Dock with friends prior to leaving

In march of 2009 we found Stray Cat in Key West Florida! She is a 2002 Wildcat Catamaran sailboat. She is 35' long and 21.3' wide, with a 3.3' draft. She is a galley up design with a full compliment of sails and navigation equipment.  After addressing some concerns found in the survey we completed the purchase and prepared to bring her home to Georgia. The plan was for the previous owner to accompany us on the delivery trip and instruct us in sailing a cat. When he fell and broke his leg 3 days prior to departure that wasn't going to happen so Freddie and I were on our own.

How it all started

Retirement was fast approaching and it was time to look seriously at how we wanted to spend our golden years. I know it's not original or unique but that's how it started. We knew we wanted to be in a warm climate and be near the water. We started looking for waterfront property and quickly found that our resources would not support the lifestyle we wanted. Not easily dissuaded we continued our research. During that search we stumbled across websites about cruising. Wow what an idea! The possibility had never occurred to us before but the opportunity for guaranteed waterfront living was right up our alley. So the adventure begins...
